A teenager who killed the neighbour who raped his mum spoke for the first time from prison last night and said: "I've no regrets."
But in an emotional phone call to the Sunday Mercury, Marc Bick said that he never meant to kill sex beast Derek Duffet.
"That man attacked my mum in our house," the 17 year-old said. "In some respects, he deserved what he got.
"But I didn't mean to kill him. I was just so angry and upset. I wasn't really thinking straight.
"I don't blame my mum for me being in prison because I love her. I'd do the same again if I had to."
Bick, from Newport, Shropshire, was 16 when he discovered that drug addict Duffet had attacked mum Yvonne, 48, after threatening her with a wrench.
Angry and confused, the teenager vowed revenge and confronted the brute a week after the December 20 attack.
When Duffet sneered "For f*** sake, it was only a bit of fun," Marc lashed out in fury with a cricket bat.
Duffet, 40, slumped to the floor where he banged his head - and died three days later.
His death was due to the fall, not the blow from the bat.
A-level student Bick, who got 10 GCSEs this summer and wants to eventually set up his own gardening business, was originally charged with murder.
But that was reduced to manslaughter, which he admitted at Stafford Crown Court earlier this month. He was jailed for three years.
Bick, currently in Stoke Heath Young Offenders' Institution in Market Drayton, Shropshire, added: "I don't regret doing something about the situation because he raped my mum.
"But I do regret that Duffet died because I honestly never meant to kill him.
"I was really worried about going to prison because I have never been in any kind of trouble before.
"But it's better than I thought it would be. I thought it would be really tough and I wouldn't be able to cope.
"Before all this happened things had been going really well.
"I was going out with a nice girl and I'd been going to college which I really enjoyed.
"I'm carrying on with my A-levels in here and I'm also doing gym. It's OK in here and I just have to get on with it, although Christmas is going to be weird without my family.
"I want to say thanks to everyone who has been on my side. I think 98 per cent of people would have done a similar thing if they had been in my situation."
Bick and Duffet had known each other well - they used to play chess together and go fishing at the nearby lake.
But 5ft 2ins mum Yvonne never suspected that her neighbour would subject her to such a horrific ordeal.
She told the Sunday Mercury: "Derek had popped round for some chicken. I would often give him bits of food because I felt sorry for him.
"I went into the outhouse to get some food out of the chest freezer and stood on a box to reach in. He followed me out there, held a wrench to my neck and then raped me.
"I couldn't scream because I didn't want my youngest son, Paul, to wake up and be scared. I didn't want to tell anyone. The children just thought I wasn't feeling very well."
Yvonne kept the attack from her eldest son, his sister Mikayla, now 16, and Paul, 11, believing that it would spoil their Christmas celebrations.
But Duffet started boasting about the way he had raped her, and Bick became suspicious after finding his mother crying.
Eventually, Yvonne told him what happened.
"Marc was so angry that he started sobbing," she said. "He was devastated but angry at the same time. He said he was going to get Derek - but I tried to stop him.
"He went round and Derek grabbed him by the shoulders. Then Marc hit him and, as he fell, he hit his head. He died three days later of his injuries.
"The doctors said if he hadn't been taking drink and drugs then he probably would have lived.
"Marc just wanted to hurt him, never to kill him.
"I really miss Marc and Paul misses him, too. He cried when Marc went to prison.
"But I'm glad Duffet is dead. He deserved it.

Friends 'beat pensioner to death over child sex claims'

John Fallen, 69, of Dunfermline, was found dead early on January 2 following the New Year’s Day attack.
A neighbour told the jury that she heard heated conversation in Mr Fallen’s flat and then the fearful cries of the elderly widower, known to his friends as Jack.
The High Court in Dunfermline was told that Neil Dougal, 36, of Glenrothes, and his friend Mark Hunter, 39, of Dunfermline, who both deny culpable homicide, had been drinking vodka with their partners on New Year’s Day when they decided to visit Mr Fallen to “find out the truth” about the child abuse claims.
The pensioner, whose wife had died two years earlier, lived alone with his dog. His flat was just a few minutes’ walk from Mr Dougal’s home, where the two accused had been drinking.
Jacqueline Gorniak, 28, Mr Hunter’s partner, who was giving evidence yesterday, said that the two men had returned after about ten minutes. Mr Dougal described how he punched and kicked Mr Fallen and stamped on his head, she said. Later he phoned a friend and bragged that he had “done the business”.
Ms Gorniak said she felt sick when she heard what they had done. She said she was not convinced that the sexual assault allegations were true. She said that the men told her that Mr Hunter had been the first to throw a punch. “Neil had asked (Mr Fallen) if the allegations were true and that’s when Mark hit him,” she said.
Later at about 4.30am Mr Hunter and Ms Gorniak left Mr Dougal’s house to return home and passed Mr Fallen’s flat, where police were erecting a scene-of-crime tape. She said that Mr Hunter had wished the policeman a happy new year and asked him what had happened, but the policeman had refused to say.
Earlier Mr Fallen’s American neighbour, Dorothy Todd, 70, said that she heard the pensioner cry out in terror shortly before he was found dead. She said she had heard voices in Mr Fallen’s flat from about 9.30pm and they suddenly got louder at about 11.30pm. At that point, she said, her whole flat shook for a few minutes as if it had been hit by an earthquake. After watching two people leave, she tried to call Mr Fallen but got no answer so she rang his daughter, who called police.
Christine Atherton, Mr Dougal’s sister, said that her brother “loved” Mr Fallen and treated him like a member of the family. “Michelle (her brother’s partner) and Neil were very close to him. They saw each other every day. They were very upset at the allegations. But Neil said he would let the police deal with it,” she said.

Attacker 'left footprints on skull of dead pensioner'

A PENSIONER kicked to death in his own home was struck with such force his attacker left several footprints imprinted on his skull, a court has heard.
A pathologist yesterday told the High Court in Dunfermline that John Fallen, 69, died after a single blow to the head caused a massive brain haemorrhage.
Professor Derek Pounder said he was in no doubt that the fatal blow had been struck while Mr Fallen had been lying on the ground. He added that, before Mr Fallen died, he had been kicked at least 15 times in the head.
Prof Pounder told the High Court: "Mr Fallen sustained a number of punches, kicks and stamps targeted around the eyes, ears and cheeks. Some of the injuries had the pattern of a shoe imprinted on the victim’s skin surrounding the skull."
Mr Fallen was found dead in his Dunfermline flat just after midnight on January 2 this year. The court was told that the two men accused of killing him, Neil Dougal, 36, and Mark Hunter, 39, had been drinking on New Year’s Day when they decided to confront Mr Fallen about rumours he had molested a girl.
Dougal’s brother, John Dougal, told the court that while his brother had admitted visiting Mr Fallen, he said the pensioner was alive and standing when he had left.

THE trial of two brothers-in-law accused of beating a pensioner to death has heard claims that one had threatened the other with repercussions in jail.
David Burns QC made the allegation yesterday as he defended landscape gardener Mark Hunter. Hunter, 39, is jointly accused with 36-year-old Neil Dougal of the culpable homicide of 69-year-old John Fallen at his home in Dunfermline on New Year’s Day this year.
Each has blamed the other for giving Mr Fallen a severe beating after hearing rumours that he had sexually abused a young girl. In evidence, Dougal admitted being at Mr Fallen’s house on the night he died and said he "couldn’t believe it" when he learned of his death.
He said his wife had phoned Hunter, who came round to his flat and they agreed to tell police that they had all been drinking together on the night of the incident and that none of them had left at any point. The court heard that Hunter broke the pact and told police that they had visited the old man. Hunter said that while he had hit Mr Fallen once and kicked him twice, Dougal "lost it" and kicked and punched him repeatedly.
Mr Burns, cross-examining Dougal, accused him of threatening Hunter as the two arrived at court yesterday. Dougal replied: "He’s also threatened me. My whole family got threatened today."

Two men have been jailed for a total of 20 years for battering a pensioner to death after hearing he had been accused of being a paedophile. Neil Dougal and his brother-in-law Mark Hunter were found guilty of the assault on 69-year-old Jack Fallen at his home in Dunfermline last January.
The retired dockyard worker was kicked and stamped on up to 20 times.
At the High Court in Forfar, Dougal, 36, and Hunter, 39, were each jailed for 10 years. At their trial, the High Court in Dunfermline heard how the pair had conned their way into Mr Fallen's home after hearing he had been arrested for abusing a young girl.
Some of the blows received by Mr Fallen, who lived alone, were so fierce that training shoe imprints were left on his body. He died of a brain haemorrhage.

Dougal, a house painter, and Hunter, a landscape gardener, were found guilty of killing the elderly widower on New Year's Day 2004.
They had blamed each other for landing the fatal blow.
Sentencing them, Lord Brodie said: "You must both understand you have been found guilty 'art and part' for the culpable homicide of the late Mr Fallen and the sentences I impose must reflect that.
"There is no question, but that I have a duty to impose custodial sentences of a significant length.
"The jury were entitled to find you both went, not with the intention of killing him, but to seriously assault him.
"The evidence from the post-mortem report and from the witness in the upstairs flat from what she heard, point to a very severe assault on an elderly man who was alone in his house. I do not see significant differences between your positions."
'Ugly conversation'
Mr Fallen had been arrested over Christmas 2003 and accused of sexually abusing a child, which he admitted to police was true.
When news of Mr Fallen's arrest as a suspected paedophile reached the close-knit community around Haig Crescent, Dunfermline, Dougal and Hunter hatched a plan to beat up Mr Fallen, who had been released on bail six days earlier.
Advocate depute Alex Prentice said the duo had an "ugly conversation" and then decided to "go round and sort old Jack out".
Each claimed the other had been "jubilant", having "done in a beast" and that they had left the house first while their victim was still alive.
Fife Constabulary launched a murder hunt, but six days later Hunter came forward and confessed what he and his brother-in-law had done.
From the start he tried to blame Dougal, telling police he had "lost it" and "wellied" the old man, but Dougal claimed Hunter had egged him on.

However, after an eight-day trial the jury took less than 90 minutes to find both men guilty of culpable homicide.
Dougal, now of Julian Court, Glenrothes and Hunter, of Robertson Road, Dunfermline, showed no emotion as they were led away from court.
Counsel Matt Jackson, representing Hunter, said his client was "a man who felt a very heavy burden of conscience upon himself".
Detective Inspector Alex Watson said: "We were convinced Mr Fallen knew his killers and had let them in. There was very little sign of any disturbance.
"Every time Mark Hunter looked out of his bedroom window in Robertson Road he would have seen the police incident bus.

Women kill rape suspect in court

A man standing trial for rape was killed by a group of women and children in court in the city of Nagpur in central India on Friday, reports say.
Initial reports said about 14 women and several children forced their way into the courtroom and knifed the accused, Appu Yadav, to death.
The attackers then escaped from the scene of the crime. Police, who have launched an investigation, admit that they were caught unawares.

However, the BBC's Zubair Ahmed in Bombay says they also admitted they had to throw a security cordon around the defendant last week when he was jeered by angry women as he arrived in court. Yadav was facing 24 counts of molestation and rape. ..more.. by BBC News

Even as Dhananjoy Chatterjee awaited the walk to the gallows, another rapist and murderer met a painful end in a courtroom. Appu Yadav a k a Bharat Kalicharan Yadav was lynched and castrated by 50 women when he was produced in court.
Yadav and three other criminals were taken to court at 2.20 pm for remand extension by three police constables. The women, who were waiting for Yadav with some youths, started shouting and attacked him with stones and sticks. The youths had hatti knives. The ruckus spiralled and the enraged women castrated Yadav.
A police source said that the constables fled the scene. “The police should have taken proper care and made adequate arrangements. It was a mistake to have three constables escort four criminals,” said a senior police officer.
Yadav, who was arrested by the police last Friday, was produced in the First Class judicial magistrate’s court on Sunday. A group of people had staged demonstrations then. Appu had 40 cases of murder, rape, attempted murder against him and was also arrested earlier under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act.
The other three accused were injured and have been admitted to a local hospital. Nagpur Joint Commissioner Rajendra Sonawane said an inquiry would be done by a DCP rank police officer and the report would be submitted to D Sivanandhan, police commissioner, in 10 days. ..more.. by Yogesh Naik

PERV CHOPPED UP: Body parts of abuse teacher found in garden grave

THE dismembered corpse of a pervert teacher was found in a shallow grave yesterday. Disgraced Alan Wilson's body was discovered in a garden in Edinburgh's posh Merchiston area.
It had been wrapped in a black plastic bag and dumped in a shallow grave in the undergrowth. His severed head, arms and legs were found tied up in separate bags and hidden beside it. Wilson, 52, was the former principal history teacher at James Gillespie's School in the city.
Hewas jailed for 18 months in May 2000 on eight counts of sex abuse against teenage pupils over a five-year period. He plied his victims with drink before abusing them.
The divorced father-of-two's torso was discovered by police early yesterday after they received a tip-off. A nearby house where it is believed the body was cut up was sealed as forensic teams moved in to gather evidence. Residents in the expensive suburb were shocked by the bloody killing.
One elderly woman who lives in flats overlooking the garden told how she heard digging in the garden nearly a week earlier. She said: 'I was up in the early hours and I heard what sounded like digging but when I looked out the window, I couldn't see anything.
'Now, the thought of what it could have been is simply horrifying.' Detectives found the torso had been partially buried but described it as a 'shallow and ineffective grave'. Last night, they were trying to piece together his movements in the days leading up to his brutal murder.
A friend who Wilson met in prison was helping police with their inquiries. And a post-mortem was being carried out to discover exactly how he died. A police spokesman said:'A body has been recovered in a rear garden at Merchiston Avenue. 'We are following a positive line of inquiry.'
On his release from jail, Wilson had returned to live in his flat in upmarket Royal Mile Mansions in the city. Yesterday, his neighbours in the posh block refused to discuss Wilson, saying they had 'held a meeting' and decided not to comment.
Wilson had become awell-respected school figure in his 20-year career, even advising education authorities about teaching matters. But he was suspended in February 1999 after a mother complained he had plied her son with drink. An investigation revealed his sex attacks on the pupils who were supposed to be in his care.
Wilson was also a director of Mercat Tours, who provide guided historic walks through the capital. He had abused one boy after giving him a job distributing leaflets. Wilson had always been fascinated with death, gore and grisly murder.
Dressed in black, hooded cloaks, he would teach his tour guides to recount macabre tales of death and torture to tourists in candlelit underground vaults, including the once plague-ridden street of Mary King's Close.
Together with his then friend and colleague, Des Brogan, he co-wrote a book, Ghostly Tales and Sinister Stories of Old Edinburgh. It revels in the tales of dismembered bodies that the guides still tell nightly.
A former guide who worked for Wilson, who did not wish to be named, said: 'He loved all those gruesome tales of the grisly side to old Edinburgh and, in particular,stomach-churning murders. The book he wrote is dripping with guts and gore.
'He would make sure all the stories we told were full of all the grisly details too blood, pain and torture. 'There are all the famous tales like the one of the infamous bodysnatchers Burke and Hare.
'But after Wilson was sent to prison, he cut all ties with the company and I never knew what happened to him. 'So it seems incredible that he ended up as murdered like that, as though he were in one of his very own stories.

THE dismembered corpse of a pervert teacher was found in a shallow grave yesterday. Disgraced Alan Wilson's body was discovered in a garden in Edinburgh's posh Merchiston area.
It had been wrapped in a black plastic bag and dumped in a shallow grave in the undergrowth. His severed head, arms and legs were found tied up in separate bags and hidden beside it. Wilson, 52, was the former principal history teacher at James Gillespie's School in the city.
Hewas jailed for 18 months in May 2000 on eight counts of sex abuse against teenage pupils over a five-year period. He plied his victims with drink before abusing them.
The divorced father-of-two's torso was discovered by police early yesterday after they received a tip-off. A nearby house where it is believed the body was cut up was sealed as forensic teams moved in to gather evidence. Residents in the expensive suburb were shocked by the bloody killing.
One elderly woman who lives in flats overlooking the garden told how she heard digging in the garden nearly a week earlier. She said: 'I was up in the early hours and I heard what sounded like digging but when I looked out the window, I couldn't see anything.
'Now, the thought of what it could have been is simply horrifying.' Detectives found the torso had been partially buried but described it as a 'shallow and ineffective grave'. Last night, they were trying to piece together his movements in the days leading up to his brutal murder.
A friend who Wilson met in prison was helping police with their inquiries. And a post-mortem was being carried out to discover exactly how he died. A police spokesman said:'A body has been recovered in a rear garden at Merchiston Avenue. 'We are following a positive line of inquiry.'
On his release from jail, Wilson had returned to live in his flat in upmarket Royal Mile Mansions in the city. Man beaten to death after child's rape claim

Vigilantism has resurfaced in Khayelitsha, with two men - one accused of raping a child and the other of stealing a cellphone - being bludgeoned to death by angry people this week.
In the first incident, a man accused of raping an eight-year-old girl was killed by a group of people in the France area.
Police said the child was allegedly raped on Wednesday last week after being lured to a house to "help wash the dishes", but she had not told her mother until Monday.
The girl's aunt said she and friends of the family had been told about the rape when the girl's mother called them at 8pm on Monday.
The mother had gone to the alleged rapist's home and confronted him and an argument, loud enough to be heard by neighbours, had ensued.
When the aunt arrived at the house, she found several angry residents gathered at the scene.
"They were beating someone," the aunt said. "I could not recognise him because his face was full of blood and sand. He was lying on the ground dead and there were planks, stones and rocks lying beside him."
The police were called.
The aunt said the girl's mother had noticed that the child was struggling to walk on Monday.
"When she asked the child what the problem was, she said she had been raped," said the aunt. The child was taken to a doctor, who confirmed she had been sexually assaulted.
The girl's father said she had also gone for an HIV test, but the results had come back negative. The child would have another test in three months. She was receiving counselling.
Khayelitsha police spokesperson Priscilla Ndongeni said the case was being investigated.
In another incident on Sunday, an angry mob killed a man accused of stealing a cellphone. Police found his body under a bridge near Site 10. Nine people were arrested and are to appear in court on Friday.
Western Cape police commissioner Mzwandile Petros said he was outraged at people taking the law into their hands.

Ex-wife is jailed for sex killing

A WOMAN was jailed for life yesterday after she lured her ex-husband into a kinky sex session and stabbed him to death.
Mum-of-two Denise Lawrence, 47, handcuffed Adrian Anson to his bed then plunged a kitchen knife through his heart.
Prosecutor Greg Taylor QC said: "This was not a crime of passion - it was an execution.
"She handcuffed him to special hoops in the bedroom wall and tied his feet. "Lawrence put a black mask on his head that he couldn't see through. Then they had sex."
Cardiff crown court heard Lawrence left him to die tied up and with the front door to his home in Roath, Cardiff, locked to prevent him getting out.
Mr Taylor said: "Anson was bleeding and tied up. She turns up the music so she can't hear him."
Lawrence from Cardiff, who denied murder, said she believed Anson, 37, was wrongly cleared of sex offences against two girls.
