Murder victim was registered sex offender

4-14-2010 Louisiana:

LAKE CHARLES, LA. (KPLC) - Richard Dean Davis, the man brutally stabbed in a trailer in Jeff Davis Parish early yesterday morning, was a registered sex offender. In September 2000, Davis had been convicted of carnal knowledge of a juvenile. However, since September 25, 2003, he had no longer been on probation or parole supervision.

Davis died in a mobile home at Treasurewood Trailer Park early yesterday morning after an unknown assailant came inside and stabbed him and Mary Katherine Rasmussen. Sheriff's deputies say Rasmussen's daughter called 911 and said her mother and her mother's boyfriend had been stabbed.

Davis was stabbed multiple times. Jeff Davis Sheriff's Deputies have not yet released any update on the case. No word of any arrests so far. ..Source.. by Theresa Schmidt, 7KPLC.com

Man dies, girlfriend injured in stabbing

A 33-year-old man was stabbed to death and his 36-year-old girlfriend was injured in an early-morning incident today in Iowa, the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The woman’s daughter called 911 at 2:30 a.m. and stated that the woman and her boyfriend had been stabbed, the news release says.

Authorities responded to the call at Wooden Treasurers Trailer Park, 21259 Frontage Road, and found that Richard Dean Davis had been stabbed multiple times, the news release says. His body was taken to the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office for an autopsy, the news release says.

The girl’s mother, Mary Katherine Rasmussen, was taken to a hospital where she was treated for cuts and released, the news release says.

Deputies to re-interview girlfriend of homicide victim

4-14-2010 Louisiana:

LAKE CHARLES, LA. (KPLC) -Jeff Davis Sheriff Ricky Edwards says they are re-interviewing the girlfriend of the man stabbed to death yesterday near Iowa. Edwards says they are following up on inconsistencies in stories.

Edwards says Mary Katherine Rasmussen had told deputies a man wearing a black mask came in her house at Treasurewood Trailer Park near Iowa--and began stabbing her boyfriend and then her arm. But now deputies are re-interviewing her to follow up on some inconsistencies in stories.

A neighbor had said Ramussen pounded on her door at 2:30 in the morning screaming that she call 911. Crime scene investigators photographed the apparent bloody hand print.

Yet deputies say they received a 911 call from a girl saying her mother and mother's boyfriend had been stabbed.

Richard Dean Davis died after being stabbed multiple times. His picture was on a sex offender web site because ten years ago he had sex with an under age girl and was convicted of carnal knowledge of a juvenile. That was in the year 2000 when he was 23. He had not been on probation or parole since 2003.

The sheriff says when deputies arrived at the scene they were greeted by a young girl who said her mom needed help in the back bedroom. Edwards says they found Davis on his back and Rasmussen performing CPR. As well, deputies say there was no sign of forced entry.

Davis's address was 147 Granger Lane in Cameron Parish, just south of the Calcasieu line. Neighbors say deputies were called to a domestic dispute between Davis and a girlfriend within the past year. And he has been arrested for DWI.

Rasmussen was treated at a hospital for her injuries and released. At last word no one has been arrested in connection with the homicide.

LA- JPSO investigating River Ridge murder

7-3-2009 Louisiana:

NEW ORLEANS ? Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Officers are investigating the early morning murder of a man in River Ridge after responding to a call of subject shot.

Sheriff Newell Normand said officers found Anthony E. Paul, 23, shot several times in the 500 block of Richard Street in River Ridge at about 1:30 a.m. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Crime scene investigators found a “number of spent 9 mm shell casings” near Paul.

Paul has a history of arrests in his past, including narcotics violations, resisting arrest, parole violation. Additionally, he was a Code 6 sex offender.

Informer's Call Reported Before Suspect's Slaying

3-19-1984 Louisiana:

An unidentified man called the authorities Friday and tried to warn them that someone might try to harm a kidnapping suspect minutes before the suspect was fatally shot by the father of the kidnapping victim, according to a sheriff's deputy.

And, Sgt. Ricky Murphy said, the same caller was apparently on the phone moments later with Gary Plauche, 39 years old, when Mr. Plauche turned and shot to death Jeffery Doucet, 25, said to be the abductor of Mr. Plauche's son.

Mr. Doucet died about noon Saturday, The charge against Mr. Plauche was changed from attempted second- degree murder to second-degree murder.

Mr. Doucet had been extradited from Los Angeles to face a kidnapping charge. The informer called the sheriff's office Friday night, about 10 minutes before Mr. Doucet stepped off a plane at the Baton Rouge airport, said Sergeant Murphy, who talked to the man. ..more.. by NY Times

"Revenge rather than self-defense was involved when Leon Gary Plauche, 39, stepped from a telephone booth in the Baton Rouge, La., airport a year ago and killed Jeffery Doucet, 25, with a .38-cal. pistol. Doucet, who had taken up with Plauche's estranged wife, allegedly kidnaped and sexually molested Plauche's son Jody, then eleven. "A lot of people have stated that they would have done exactly the same thing as Plauche, if it had been their son," conceded Prem Burns, chief prosecutor in the Louisiana case. Man Sentenced in Killing Of Suspected Kidnapper

8-28-1985 Louisiana:

BATON ROUGE, La., Aug. 27— A father who fatally shot a man suspected of kidnapping and sexually assaulting his son was given a suspended prison term today and sentenced to five years of probation.

The man, Leon Gary Plauche, 39 years old, had pleaded no contest to manslaughter in the death of Jeffrey Doucet, 25, who was shot in the head in the Baton Rouge airport in March 1984.

The shooting occurred as deputies were returning Mr. Doucet in handcuffs from California, where he had been arrested on a charge of kidnapping Mr. Plauche's 11-year-old son.

Judge Frank Saia of State District Court sentenced Mr. Plauche to undergo treatment for substance abuse and perform 300 hours of community service work. ..Source.. by NY Times
