Students quizzed in death of child molester

3-29-2002 Dominica:
Four young men are currently assisting the police in their probe into the death of a known child molester in the Roseau area. Police have confirmed, that the lads, some of whom are currently students of the St. Mary's Academy, have been picked up and questioned by the police in relation to the death of Roland Labassiere.

The deceased was known to be molesting young boys and had previously been convicted for the crime of buggery.

“A few boys were brought in, but have since been released pending the autopsy report which will determine the cause of Labassiere’s death,” Assistant Superintendent of Police Cyril Carrette disclosed.

Labassiere, who has no known place of residence, was found on March 21, at the corner of Cross Street and King George V Street bleeding profusely with a wound on his head. He was taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) where he died at about 2:30 p.m. on March 22. ..more.. by Dominica News
