Caught On Tape: Suspect Shot, Killed By Police

11-12-2008 Texas:

ember 12, 2008)—It all started the afternoon of Oct. 8, when sheriff’s deputies in Bosque County were following up leads in the report of a sexual assault.

After spotting a car that matched the description of a vehicle used in the sexual assault, Deputy Jeff Hightower attempted to identify the driver.

What happened next was caught on Hightower's dashboard camera; News 10 obtained the graphic footage from the Bosque County Sheriff’s Office.

The video shows Hightower and the suspect, later identified as 52-year-old Thomas Aguirre fighting, as Hightower attempts to search Aguirre.

As Aguirre breaks free and goes around his vehicle, Hightower can be heard ordering the man to get down then calling for backup from the Sheriff’s Office.

Moments pass and then Aguirre comes back around his vehicle; a gun is in Aguirre’s right hand pointed toward the deputy.

Hightower fires twice, hitting Aguirre in the chest; Aguirre immediately goes down out of camera frame.

A grand jury later cleared Hightower of any wrongdoing. ..Source..
